A Bite of Fitness

National Yoga Month

We are well into the fall season and that brings some of our favorite things, like autumn veggies, cooler weather, and National Yoga Month! Celebrate this healthy healing practice all month long, as September is the month for yoga.

Yoga can be intimidating for beginners and people who have never tried it before. Practice does make perfect, so be sure to try just a couple of poses a few times a week. It can also b tricky picking out the gear that is right for you. Your clothes should be really comfortable, allowing for maximum movement and breathability. It is important to find your favorites so you can fully enjoy this exercise.

In honor of National Yoga Month, I want to share with you some of my favorite gear and yoga essentials, that make practicing yoga a breeze! For all my favorites, read on below!

I have always enjoyed yoga as a relaxing way to unwind and stretch my tired muscles. Yoga is so healing and feels so good, it's hard to pass on this type of workout. Whether you choose yoga for stretching, toning, or just a relaxing addition to your weekly routine, there are so many positives and benefits.

1. Wai Lana Yoga Mat
You have to start off with a good yoga mat. There are yoga mats out there to suit every    preference and personality. Choosing the right one for you depends on thickness, material, texture, and stickiness. We like the mats at Wai Lana; the mats are lightweight but durable enough to bring to multiple yoga classes. I like the support of these mats and the non-slide material.

2. Woman's Active by Old Navy
Comfort is the key to yoga. You should wear clothes that do not confine movement and have full coverage. When you are stretching and holding different poses, having full coverage clothing is imperative. Old Navy's active line has apparel that covers and provides room to stretch. Doesn't hurt that it comes with a nice price tag, too. :)

3. VS Pink Yoga Pants
One of our favorite yoga pants are from the VS Pink line. They are incredibly comfortable, flattering, and perfect for most workouts. These pants do not conflict with movement and offer full coverage. Offered in many colors and styles, the VS Pink yoga pants that you'll want to take to class.

4. AVIA Sports Bras
A supportive sports bra is essential for any type of exercise, that is why we love the AVIA bras. These colorful bras have adjustable straps, making them supportive enough for lots of movement. They have a great fit and work well under all workout tops.

5. Vega One Protein Packets
Refueling after workouts is important for recovery and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. We like these Vega One Protein packets to add to a fruit and veggie post-yoga smoothie. Vega One products are all in one supplements made of plant based protein that contain Omega-3s, antioxidants, probiotics, and more nutritional content. These protein packets are also free of dairy, gluten, artificial sweeteners, colors, and flavors, which we absolutely love.

6. Lifefactory Glass Water Bottles
Of course, a cute, functional water bottle is essential to your yoga workout. The Lifefactory bottles are made of glass, wrapped in a protectional rubber to prevent damage; if you accidentally knock one of these bottles during downward facing dog, it will not break. The bottles are BPA free and dishwasher safe, making these bottles a perfect addition to your gear collection.
